I have had a lovely, hard-working summer. Besides painting the Manchester Community College Library piece I have been educating myself. I have joined an Ikebana Class in York Maine. Ikebana is the Japanese Art of Arranging Flowers. More rules then I thought I would enjoy but I have discovered that they are mostly well worth consideration. I have found this to be the distillation of design and a great opportunity for me to sharpen my sense for work on my ongoing KIMONO Series.

I had a great demo and Workshop with the art group in North Reading, Mass. They are an enthusiastic talented crowd. It was lots of fun. Hope to do more with them this winter.

It was also a privilege to speak to the Manchester Art Association. I will be on hand to give them an in-house critique session in November - that will be Great Fun.

On the whole, this summer has been slow for sales but exuberant for morale and most everyone is digging deeper to commit themselves to making art.

The Merrimac River Painters are a thrill to be associated with. I am in awe of their creativity, generosity, and enthusiasm. We have shown throughout the year and will continue to do so. We also meet regularly and are planning a Painting Retreat!

I am looking forward to sharing the stage with Dody Kolb at the Rye Art Club in April to talk about my KIMONO series and Japanese design.

After a fabulous fall and winter working on commissions with Art Three, I am hard at work in my studio putting the finishing touches on some gorgeous new works for the 2009 summer exhibition season. The paintings are a bit more atmospheric and poetic than last year... must be the weather!

As most of you know I have been writing art reviews for Art New England for
the last ten years. Find me in "Regional Reviews".
I have recently had a short piece published in Accent's "Lifestyles", a
colorful glossy magazine about living the good life in New England. My
article
is about art glass and the next issue is on silversmithing. I love promoting the arts!

Kimono Series show at SNHU was written up by Manchester Newspapers and had over 1000 visitors!
